I close the door let the rain fall by Tang Yin
中文原文

雨打梨花深闭门,孤负青春,虚负青春。

赏心乐事共谁论?

花下销魂,月下销魂。

愁聚眉峰尽日颦,千点啼痕,万点啼痕。

晓看天色暮看云,行也思君,坐也思君。

English Translation

I close the door let the rain fall,

hear the sounds of fallen pear petals emptily,

that's my youth.

Whom could i share my happiness with?

No matter it's in the flowers or under the moonshine,

i just think of you.

I close the heart let the rain fall,

hear the sounds of fallen blue souls emptily,

that's my youth.

Whom could i stare up at the stars with?

No matter it's in the reality or in the dream,

you're only goddess i eager for.

Why Chinese poems is so special?
The most distinctive features of Chinese poetry are: concision- many poems are only four lines, and few are much longer than eight; ambiguity- number, tense and parts of speech are often undetermined, creating particularly rich interpretative possibilities; and structure- most poems follow quite strict formal patterns which have beauty in themselves as well as highlighting meaningful contrasts.
How to read a Chinese poem?
Like an English poem, but more so. Everything is there for a reason, so try to find that reason. Think about all the possible connotations, and be aware of the different possibilities of number and tense. Look for contrasts: within lines, between the lines of each couplet and between successive couplets. Above all, don't worry about what the poet meant- find your meaning.
